Being male and reading about Mulan may seem rather odd! But anyway I'm designing Movie posters and this site has given me a good idea about Mulan. Cheers!

ahahahaha
Hi, everyone. I saw Mulan when it was first released and was pleased and delighted that the hero(ine) was an Asian, a woman, and possessed the three V's: virtue, venturous, and finally victorious. Unlike some of the other Disney "heroines" in the past, who ran away for the sake of their own selfish reasons, Mulan's rebelliousness stemmed from pure concern for her father's condition - she knew he would be an easy target for death. So she runs away, demonstrating her venturousness and though faced many obstacles, both as a soldier and a woman, she refused to just give up and eventually emerged victorious. Talk about stubborn! But it worked. I saw her as androgynous (having masculine and feminine traits) - she was action- and thinking-oriented, feminine because she did it for love.
Did you know that androgynous women have been reported to have a higher self esteem than the conventional woman? I wrote a paper on this, so if anybody is interested in reading my view, let me know. I graduated from a woman's university where the goal is to empower women (but if you ask me, some still fawn on men) and I always felt like an outsider because I didn't dress sexy or talk sexy (which is characteristic of the conventional woman). Yet I faced battles in which I had the choice to "die" or "survive", I chose to survive on the basis of thinking. And, being Asian, I could really connect with the character of Mulan. I think this film is feminist in that it strives to prove that women in some respects are equal to men, but it does not bash them. Then again, the male ego is very, very sensitive. As you can see, I chose the name "V-Girl" because I see some similarities between the character of Mulan and myself, especially regarding victorious...and not "Valley Girl." :)
hey, this page is fairly good. i've surfed quite a bit and this site is nicely set out. Perhaps you can have some more visual stimulus eg: moving objects or clips from the movie.
